Breaking news! Sean who has been diligently checking off sites where no or limited reports have been received, not only found another nesting pair with 6 cygnets at Castleknock Golf Club, but also located two of the project coloured rings Swans that hadn't been seen since February 20th on the Grand Canal.

May is the month when the majority of hatchings happen and it has certainly been a busy month so far. Thank you so much for your observations.
The wonderful photo below is by Michael Linehan and shows the Ploopluck Swans (who disappeared last year) on the move. Using the tow paths to bypass the locks on the Canal they move 2Km from the nest to the Naas Canal Harbour

The nesting Census boundary is Dublin, North Wicklow and East Kildare.
Currently at least 33 nests hatched. I say at least, as Broadmeadows is confusing. It is a communal nesting site and who is who. There are at least 2 nests hatched but possibly 4. Two of the nests have have colour rings read on Adults. Thank you to Tom, Sean, Vincent and Ita for reports from there.
The nesting Census now looks like this. This couldn't be done without all the reporters There are 33 nests confirmed hatched, but there are another 24 nest that we are awaiting an outcome. All sightings - even cygnet numbers of nests that have already hatched are appreciated.
